Mental Health Consultation for Businesses and Organizations
Employees are navigating stress, burnout, caregiving, grief, and mental health challenges, often while still showing up for work. Most organizations want to help and aren’t sure where to start. I work with employers and organizations to build mental health support that’s practical, sustainable, and grounded in clinical expertise.
I’m a licensed counselor in Maine and New Hampshire with specialized training in trauma, perinatal mental health, and substance use. I started out as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, then moved into community mental health and later became a clinical director. Along the way, I’ve seen what works, and what doesn’t, when organizations try to support people through hard things, and I bring that experience to my consulting.
I understand the clinical side of what your employees may be dealing with, and I know the practical side of running a program and supporting a team. That combination means recommendations that are grounded in clinical expertise, realistic for your organization, and sensitive to the people they affect.
How I can help
Mental health program development
Designing or improving the mental health supports your organization offers, from policies and referral pathways to how managers respond when someone is struggling.
Training and workshops
Practical, evidence-informed sessions for staff and leaders, such as:
- Recognizing stress, burnout, and signs a colleague is struggling
- Having supportive conversations at work
- Understanding anxiety, trauma, and substance use in the workplace
- Supporting employees during pregnancy, postpartum, and return to work
- Building psychologically safe teams
Employee support strategies
Helping you build realistic ways to support people through stress, loss, transitions, and crises, including how to point employees toward the right level of care.
Wellness consultation
Reviewing your current wellness efforts and identifying what’s helping, what’s missing, and what to prioritize with the time and budget you have.
Licensure supervision
I provide individual clinical supervision for counselors working toward licensure. See my Supervision page for details.
Who I work with
- Small and mid-sized businesses
- Healthcare, nonprofit, and community organizations
- Schools, universities, and professional programs
- Teams and leaders who want to support employee well-being
- HR and management teams building or reviewing mental health supports
My approach
I start by listening to what your organization is facing, because every workplace has its own culture, constraints, and goals. From there, I offer recommendations that fit your size, budget, and capacity, not a generic program that sits unused.
My work is:
- Practical: focused on steps people will use, not abstract advice
- Trauma-informed: attentive to how stress and past experiences affect people at work
- Evidence-based: built on research and clinical practice
- Respectful of privacy: I don’t ask employees to share personal information, and I don’t share anyone’s private details with an employer
What working together can look like
- Initial conversation. A free call to talk about your goals and what’s going on.
- Assessment. I learn about your organization, your needs, and what’s already in place.
- Proposal. I outline a scope of work, timeline, and fees before we begin.
- Delivery. Consultation, training, or program support, in person or virtual. In-person work may include mileage fees.
- Follow-up. We review what worked and what to adjust.
Clear boundaries
Consultation is separate from therapy. I don’t provide counseling to your employees as part of a consulting engagement, and I don’t act as an employee assistance program (EAP), crisis service, or a replacement for clinical care. If an employee needs treatment, I can help your organization identify appropriate referral resources.
Frequently asked questions
What does mental health consultation for a business involve?
It’s advisory work, not therapy. I help your organization understand its needs, build or improve supports, and train staff and leaders. Services vary, from a single workshop to ongoing consultation.
Do you provide therapy to our employees?
No. Consultation is separate from counseling. I don’t see employees as therapy clients through a consulting arrangement. I can help you create referral pathways to providers and resources.
Are you an EAP provider?
No. I offer consultation, training, and program support, not an employee assistance program.
What size organizations do you work with?
Small and mid-sized.
Can you provide training virtually?
Yes. I’m happy to deliver trainings virtually on the platform your organization prefers. Your team would be responsible for scheduling and sharing the meeting link.
What topics do your trainings cover?
Stress and burnout, ethics and boundaries, supporting a struggling colleague, anxiety, trauma-informed workplaces, perinatal mental health at work, and substance use. I’m happy to talk through your organization’s needs and tailor a training to fit.
Trainings I’ve presented at conferences include:
- Addiction, Matrescence, and the Parent-Infant Bond
- Addiction and Matrescence
- Treating Tobacco Use Disorders in Addiction Programs
How much does it cost?
Fees depend on the scope of work. I provide a proposal before we begin.
Is what we discuss confidential?
I treat the information your organization shares with me as confidential and use it only to provide the consultation you’ve asked for. The terms are spelled out in a written agreement before we begin. Consultation is not therapy, so it isn’t covered by the confidentiality rules that apply to counseling sessions, and I don’t ask employees to share personal health information as part of a consulting engagement. Confidentiality may have limits where the law requires disclosure or someone’s safety is at risk.
Do you offer clinical supervision?
Yes, for counselors seeking licensure. See my Supervision page.
Which states do you serve?
I primarily work with individuals and organizations in Maine and New Hampshire. On a case-by-case basis, I may be able to support clients in other states, as long as there are no licensure restrictions.
